Walking The Wire (part 1)

Last Friday night I watched history being made as Nik Wallenda walked a tight rope across Niagara Falls.  Other tightrope artists have crossed the Niagara Gorge downstream, but no one had walked directly over the falls, and authorities hadn't allowed any tightrope acts in the area since 1896. As  the world watched, Nik Wallenda kept his mind focused on the task at hand and his eyes on the goal. Guided by his father, Nik bravely set out to accomplish a dream that no one had ever achieved.

The life for a believer can resemble Nik's walk on the tight rope. Nik Wallenda didn't just wake up last Friday and decide that he was going to walk across Niagara Falls; it took years of planning and training. I could imagine as a kid, Nik was trained by his family.
The Godly Life is a process, You don't just say the sinners prayer today and everything else just magically disappears. One must train and prepare themselves for spiritual warfare. We train by praying and reading the word. We fast and develop discipline and self control. We face hate and in return we learn to cherish love. We step out on faith leaving behind us all of our past failures. After each challenge we begin to resemble Christ more than the day before.

(To Be Continued Part-2)

2 Peter 1:5–8

Fruitful Growth in the Faith
5 But also for this very reason, hgiving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue iknowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control 4perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and jto brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither 5barren knor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Comfortable in your own skin...

It is so important that people know who they are at all times! Even more so, it is more important that young people, preacher kids, young adults know who there are at all times. Why is it that we are not challenged to understand you, the person? Fine, you are in church! You are in school! Fine your dad or mom is a preacher..a church leader...but who are you? Are you comfortable being you? Are good with being you? In fact, are you the same person in church that you are at home? At school? On the court? Today I want to encourage young people, a pastor's kid out there... to be you...to be comfortable with who you are and NOT who others want you to be. Live your dream! Make your own decisions. Obviously, if you are underage or in your parents's home, there's only so much you can do or say. At the end of the day, get to know YOU! Be that young person that can explain who you are, and not what you do. Going to church, playing ball, going to the party...thats not who you are...thats what you do. Get to know you! You can be the same person in church as you are at school. What God had called your dad or your mom to do is not who you are. Guess what? Its not who they are either. Thats what they are called to do. You are a powerful young person! You are going to have to know the powerful you. Challenge yourself! Be comfortable being who you are. You have the power on the inside of you to be comfortable in your own skin. Get to the place where you know it and be comfortable in your own skin! I want to challenge you. Take the chance, the opportunity, to know you-for real. When you know who you are, you become a leader. You find yourself not falling under pressure. You find yourself not being the player! The drama queen...the need to be the center of attention! Challenge yourself today....so you can be you and be comfortable in your own skin. Have a great day!
